Dai Nagoya Building
This project is a reconstruction of the Dai Nagoya Building, long a familiar landmark in front of Nagoya Station.
The design concept was “a majestic tree standing on a hill”. The roof of the podium is open to the public as a green sky garden, and the office tower reaches into the sky with a design that recalls the trunk, leaves, and branches of a tall tree. The cladding of the podium is brilliant and many-faceted, like a crystal, to express the luster and glamour of the commercial activities inside.
The office tower uses the latest environmental technology, including airflow windows and LED lighting, as well as district heating and cooling. Its environmental performance earned the S-rank, the highest rating under CASBEE Nagoya, the environmental evaluation system operated by the city of Nagoya. The building has a vibration control structure able to withstand the largest earthquake foreseen for the Tokai region, for earthquake resistant performance that will allow continued use after the earthquake.
