Tsukiji Hongwanji Precints

This is an expansion project for the precincts of Tsukiji Hongwanji, as it seeks to strengthen its identity as an open and accessible temple. In addition to a new perpetual memorial mausoleum and an information center as a site for communication and interaction, the lounge on the first floor of the main hall was renovated, a guard station and storage wing were added, and the plaza in front of the main hall was renewed. On the basis of the original design by Chuta Ito in the Indian sacred style, the various elements of the project were designed in ways suitable to Buddhist architecture.
